October Viz Biz
From the President.....
On the economy......
There is no doubt that the current world economic situation is having an impact on VisitRochester's members. We want you to know your leadership - via input from the Board of Directors, the Visitor Industry Council (VIC) and staff - is working in concert, to minimize negative impacts and maximize opportunities for stabilization. Your Board Marketing Committee, with full Board concurrence, has recently approved a streamlined process for development of the 2009 Business Plan, which will allow the organization to remain nimble and responsive to these challenging times. While the immediate effects of the economic situation are unknown to us, past history teaches that those companies who continue marketing and outreach efforts to their customers in difficult economic times, suffer less during the event and rebound more quickly than those who retreat from the marketplace. We will do all in our power to be aggressive in protecting your interests and continuing to present our community as a price/value leader for all types of visitation. Thank you for your continued support for the long-term mission of VisitRochester. Together, as the powerful team we are, we will overcome the present challenges and turn them into opportunities for future growth.

Corn Hill Navigation, operators of SAM PATCH and MARY JEMISON tour boats, will be staging a photo shoot of the two boats on the Genesee River/Erie Canal (Sam and Mary coming out from under the arch over the I-490 bridge). They asked that VisitRochester extend an invitation to representatives of VisitRochester members to participate. They are aiming for 50-60 people to meet at Corn Hill Landing where the boats will be moored. CHN plans to load 10-15 people on the bow of Sam Patch, 25-30 on the bow and top deck of Mary Jemison and any additional people will act as spectators on the dock. The boats will depart dock 3 pm, probably at least 2 trips, back by 3:45. Parking under the bridge just north of Corn Hill Landing. Aim for 2:30 arrival. Reward for participation: sign up for 5X7 print of final photo. Any questions, call Ted Curtis at 244-5151.
