VIC meeting are held the third Tuesday of every month.

Committees, Projects and Task Forces

All VisitRochester Members have the opportunity to participate in any number of projects, committees and task forces designed not only to fit VisitRochester's goals but to help you and your organization with your goals as well. To participate in any of these opportunities contact the Staff Liaison or Chair Person.

Programs and Special Offer Development (Committee)

A committee focused on the programs and endeavors that result in a year-round menu of attractive offers available to individuals and groups. Information developed is used in a range of marketing and communications programs including websites, in advertising and publicity.

Visible Rochester (Task Force)

Evaluate the visible condition of high visitor traffic areas throughout the community and undertake advocacy programs create action leading to enhancement and ongoing maintenance.

College Collaborations-VisitRochester and Higher Education (Committee)

Develop strategies to familiarize students, faculty and administration with VisitRochester and its community role. Explain services and programs leading to an enhanced relationship and an increase in invitations extended to out-of-town associates, family, friends, and groups

Growing Today's Visitors into Frequent Guests (Committee)

Evaluate possible strategies and commence implementation of a program that reaches existing visitors while they are here and causes them to plan additional future visits with friends and family.

Regional Collaboration Programs (Task Force)

Evaluate current regional structures and adjacent counties to determine what 2010-2011 programs are appropriate to present to prospective regional partners for investment and participation.

Recommend Rochester Reception (Project)

Invite and host an event for 150+ area residents who can influence the selection of Rochester and Monroe County as the site for a future meeting, convention, tradeshow or event. Expose them to the features and attributes of the area and the services of VisitRochester in a way that will persuade them to recommend Rochester to their organizations and become engaged in the invitation process.

Creating the Family Market Message (Task Force)

Undertake an inventory of kid-conducive features and family-friendly attributes of the Rochester area. Create a positioning statement for use in reaching this market and growing both day and overnight business.

What is the Visitor Industry Council (aka VIC)?

The VIC is the working arm of membership of VisitRochester.  The VIC gives members opportunities to pool their ideas and resources in efforts that will increase visitor business to the greater Rochester region.The cooperative programs, planned and implemented by the VIC through member participation, prove that a united effort can result in greater success.
